1. What are the different trading platforms that you offer?

We offer the Advantage Web Online Trading Platform, AT Pro download platform, City Index Trading Apps for iPhone and iPad and also an Android mobile and tablet platform, with which you can access your CFD trading account.

2. How do I use the trading platforms and apps?

The best way to familiarise yourselves with using the trading platforms and all the features of the platforms is by watching our video on how to trade.

3. What are the features of your online trading platform?

You can:

  • Place trades securely from your computer 24 hours a day
  • Access over 4,500 markets including global shares, indices, ETFs, FX, commodities and options
  • Instantly access real-time financial news and analysis feeds from Thomson Reuters
  • Access our interactive live pricing charting package which includes a range of technical analysis tools
  • Create multiple watch lists to monitor potential future trades

4. What are the system requirements to use Advantage Web?

The system requirements for accessing our web platform, Advantage Web are:

Hardware

Modern PCs will run our interface successfully but we recommend that you have at least a 2GHz processor with 4GB of RAM and up to 40MB of available hard disk space. This will also be dependent on what other applications your computer is running.

Operating System

Windows: Windows 10, Windows 8.1-8, Windows 7 or newer.

Mac: OS 10.12 or newer.

Internet Browsers

Chrome browser 56 and above is recommended for our platform, although it will perform on all other major browsers - such as Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox 52. Download the latest version of Firefox.

Flash Player

The City Index browser-based trading platform is based on Flash technology, requiring at least version 24. If you do not already have Flash installed on your machine, your browser should detect this and automatically redirect you to the Flash download page. If not, download the latest version of Flash free of charge.

Please note: Installing Macromedia Flash Player from the Macromedia website with the default options will install the Google Toolbar. The Pop-up Blocker in the Google Toolbar can cause problems when logging on to your account. We recommend disabling the Google Toolbar installation (by unchecking the box) before proceeding with the Flash installation.

Screen Resolution

The platform is best viewed at a screen resolution of at least 1280x768. You can adjust your screen resolution by going to 'Control Panel' > 'Display' > 'Change Display Settings'.

5. What are the system requirements for AT Pro?

Using AT Pro, we recommend the optimal requirements as below.

Operating System Windows 7 or newer
RAM (Memory) 4GB RAM DDR3 PC3- 12800 (1600 MHz) or better
Processer Intel Core i5-4590 @ 3.3 GHz or better
Storage 200 MB free space
Framework Microsoft Framework 4.0 with service packs

Please note AT Pro does not work with Apple Macs.

6. Are the trading platforms secure?

Yes. All Advantage platforms are accessed via a HTTPS connection and are secure. To access your account on any of our platforms, you will be required to enter your username and password.

7. How do I use the online trading platform?

Please refer to our Platform Tutorials; these feature short videos that will walk you through everything from funding your account, to using watchlists and placing trades.

8. I can't access the trading platform

Certain settings on your computer may be preventing you from logging on to our trading platform. Clearing your cache should help resolve this issue.

9. What should I do if I receive an error when placing a trade or an order?

If you receive an error, please contact our Customer Support team immediately and we will do everything we can to help.

10. I am unable to view charts, what should I do?

You may need to turn off your pop-up blocker.

11. Why do the prices on the charts differ from live prices?

The charts provided are indicative and represent mid-prices only; they should not be used to verify exact fill levels. Please note you can change the price to bid or ask using the drop down settings on the chart.

12. Do I need Flash to access the online trading platform?
