City Index appoints David Trew to head its Asia Pacific
business

City Index, a global
leader in Contracts for Difference, margined FX and spread betting,
has announced the appointment of former Managing Director of CMC
Markets, David Trew, to head up its Asia Pacific region office.
The appointment forms
another important part of City Index’s reorganisation, which began
earlier this year with the hiring of a new management team headed
by Chief Executive, Martin Belsham, and Chief Operating Officer,
Simon Bird.
Prior to joining City
Index, Mr Trew was head of the CMC Markets Asia Pacific office for
six years. He oversaw its growth from a start-up business with a
headcount of six staff and a single office in Sydney, through to a
350-employee operation, spanning 11 offices in six countries, which
today accounts for 40% of the group’s global revenue.
Mr Trew’s previous
experience includes being the Director of Trading at CMC Markets in
London and an FX Dealer at First National Bank of Chicago.
Mr Trew, who takes over
from Malcolm Nixon, will be based at the company’s Sydney office,
from where he will oversee the development of its operations in the
Asia Pacific region.
He also becomes a member
of City Index’s Executive Committee and the City Index Holding
Board - the first time the region’s head has held such a senior
position within City Index, illustrating the importance the company
attaches to Asia Pacific.
